Pixelate or cover part of an image
Select one or more areas of a photo or screenshot to reduce detail or cover them with a solid color. Move or resize each area, then inspect the output before sharing it.
Your image is processed in your browser. A mosaic can leave details recognizable, so use a fully opaque cover for sensitive information and check the downloaded copy.
Static JPG, PNG or WebP. Up to 10 MiB and 12 megapixels per image. Animated images are not supported. Files stay in your browser.
How do I cover part of an image?
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
- Drag over the area to edit, or enter its position and dimensions from the left and top edges.
- Choose Mosaic or Solid cover, then select Apply to selected area. Changes to the selected area update directly. Select Add area to cover another part. You can switch between areas, delete them or undo up to 100 steps.
- Select Create image, check every edited area, then download the PNG or JPG.
Check before downloading
Mosaic reduces detail, but text or image outlines may remain recognizable. For sensitive details such as an ID number or address, use a fully opaque solid cover and inspect every part of the image. When areas overlap, solid covers stay above mosaic effects; deleting or changing a solid area to mosaic removes that solid cover. This tool does not encrypt the image or guarantee that hidden information cannot be recovered.
Each image can be up to 10 MiB and 12 megapixels, with no edge over 12,000 pixels. You can add up to 50 areas. Animated images, PDFs and HEIC files are not supported.
Images are processed in your browser and are not uploaded or saved automatically. Clear the image or leave the page to remove it; download the result first if you want to keep it.
The download keeps the original dimensions. PNG keeps transparency; JPG fills transparent areas with white. The output is re-encoded, so colors may differ slightly and original metadata may not be retained in full. The dashed selection frame is not included.

Hide Image Details Before You Share a Screenshot
Back to toolChoose between a mosaic effect and a solid cover
A mosaic breaks the selected image area into larger blocks, reducing detail while leaving a visual hint of what was there. A solid cover replaces the area with a flat color. These treatments serve different purposes: a mosaic can mark a region for presentation, while a solid cover is the safer choice when the content should not be readable.
For example, you might use a mosaic to de-emphasize a face in a presentation image. If a screenshot contains a home address or an ID number, use an opaque solid cover instead. Before sharing, check the exported file itself; do not assume a blurred or pixelated string is unreadable just because it is hard to see at a glance.
Neither effect encrypts the image or guarantees that covered information cannot be recovered. Keep an unedited original separately if you need it, and share only the reviewed output.
Select a precise area and keep the marks organized
Choose a still JPG, PNG, or WebP image, then drag over the region to edit. You can also enter its X and Y position from the image's left and top edges, along with its width and height. The tool works with rectangular areas, not a freehand brush.
Apply the selected effect to create a mark. Adjust the active area's position or size as needed; select Add area when you want to cover a different part of the image. Switch between marks or delete one if its position or effect is wrong. Up to 50 areas can be added, and up to 100 editing steps can be undone.
For a browser screenshot with several private fields, handle each value separately and leave a little space around the text. A narrow selection can miss antialiased edges or a neighboring character. Zoom in while positioning the rectangle, then review the whole screenshot for repeated names or values elsewhere.
Use opaque covers for information that must be hidden
For sensitive text, choose a solid color that fully covers the characters and their edges. A translucent color may still show the content underneath. If a solid cover overlaps a mosaic mark, the solid cover remains above it in the exported image; removing that solid mark or changing it to mosaic reveals the area again.
After generating the image, inspect it at full size and check that the cover has no gaps. Look for duplicate copies of the same detail elsewhere in the screenshot, including browser tabs, filenames, notifications, or reflections in a photo.
The selection outline is only an editing aid and is not included in the downloaded image. Make sure you are checking the generated file, not only the dashed rectangle on the canvas.
Keep the source dimensions and choose a format
The exported image keeps the original width and height. PNG preserves transparent areas. JPG fills transparent areas with white and re-encodes the image, so colors or fine details can change slightly. The output may not retain all source metadata.
Open the downloaded copy and verify each edited region before posting or sending it. If the destination has file-size requirements, check the actual result; this tool does not set a target in KB or MB.
Images are processed in your browser and are not uploaded or saved automatically. Download the reviewed result before clearing the image or leaving the page.
Questions about covering image details
Is a mosaic safe for hiding an address or account number?
Do not rely on a mosaic for sensitive information. Block shapes or character outlines may remain recognizable. Use a fully opaque solid cover and inspect the exported file at full size.
Will the dashed selection frame appear in the download?
No. The dashed frame indicates the area being edited and is not part of the output image. Check the generated file to confirm what was actually applied.
Can I undo a cover after creating the image?
You can undo editing steps before generating the output. Once downloaded, the cover is part of the new image. Keep the source file if you may need to revise the areas later.
Input and editing limits
Choose one still JPG, PNG, or WebP image up to 10 MiB, 12 megapixels, and 12,000 pixels on either edge. You can add up to 50 rectangular areas and undo up to 100 editing steps. Animated images, PDFs, and HEIC files are not supported. The exported image keeps the source dimensions.
